Watchmen

Watchmen - Poster

I saw the trailers for this movie and it already sent chills down my spine the first time I saw a glowing blue man hover in a canteen.

I had no idea what the story was about and never heard of the comics either and when finally it shown in the cinemas, I just had to see it.

First few twenty minutes in, I finally realize, it’s not just some superhero story. I had a very heavy feeling in my chest – the movie was THAT intense. Maybe the storytelling added to that, it jumped from one timeline to another and another character to another.

Every single character spoke to me. Although, they were entirely unknown characters to me – they were still believable as superheroes. And yet, they were very flawed heroes. This is probably why they became more endearing.

At 2 hours and 30 minutes or so of running time, the film did not drag at all. There are plenty of scenes to keep you glued.

It was not all about the CGI either (although, I do commend the Mars scene and just looking at Dr. Manhattan is enough.) The acting is also pretty solid. I especially loved the tortured Rorschach – actor Jackie Earle Haley gave an awesome performance (and he didn’t even need to show his face the whole time!)

This is a movie that I will definitely remember as epic. If it didn’t beat the Dark Knight, at least it’s at a very close second!
