Funny People

This is not another Sandler movie and surprisingly it's not the usual Apatow (Knocked Up) movie either.
I love the fact that the only sign of Adam Sandler's over-the-top antics are only seen at the very beginning of the movie.
What's really interesting to watch about this movie is the struggle that Sandler's character has to endure for having a possibly terminal disease and then later on knowing that he'll never get back the only girl he ever loved.
The movie also lets you in on the story behind the life of stand-up comics and what they do to get to the top or even just be noticed.
Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Superbad) is delightfully un-douche like in this film. He's ambitious but still has that human quality that tries to help out with the problems that plague his celebrity boss (Sandler.)
If you are expecting the usual antics from the cast, you may be disappointed. But, if you let them show you their other side, this movie will definitely be worth your time.
