Coraline

Coraline - Poster

From the director of another beloved stop motion animation film, Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas) – Coraline is a great tale of a girl who is able to experience another world very similar to her own. Only there she is given more attention and better cared for.

Through a tiny door in a wall, she enters another world where she has an Other Mother that cooks the best foods and an Other Father that actually notices her. She is delighted with everything else around her, too. A magical garden and interesting neighbors makes it even more difficult for her to resist the other world’s charms.

That’s until she is invited to stay for good and allow the Other Mother to sew buttons for her eyes!

The images are tantalizing that you sometimes forget that it can be really creepy, too. The voices of Dakota Fanning as Coraline and Teri Hatcher as the Mother/Other Mother are superb.

It’s a beautifully dark tale and definitely one to chill your bones, whether you’re a kid or adult.
